Hello. It has been miserable weather today and I am toasty warm in front of the wood heater π so with me being comfy and all I knew it would beΒ the perfect opportunity to share a little furniture transformation with you all!!
My latest paint project was these really sweet and unusually shaped pair of bedside tables that I picked up over a year ago .. I had been holding off painting them for a long time but pulled them out last week and decided it was time to give them a little bit of a makeover.
I painted them in a white leaving the tops natural as my sister was hoping to buy them but they turned out to be a bit too tall for her very low bed so I knew they would go in the shop. The white was a little too harsh for me so I decided to paint over it using Fusion mineral paint in a really great soft beige colour called Bedford (inspired by the old bedford vans, how cool is that!!). Fusion mineral paint has great coverage and opacity, it only took 2 coats to get a good solid finish and the paint has a built in top coat so no waxing required. The piece still looked a little plain. I’m a huge sucker for blue so my gut was saying paint the drawer fronts in a blue tone. After sifting through my stash of blues I pulled out a tin of L’essentiels Pure Mineral Colour in a shade called Grey Goose, its a bluey green with grey overtones and I just love it.
With 2 coats of Grey Goose to the drawer fronts and a wax with some L’essentiel white wax to give them a slight washed out look was just what they needed.
The natural tops really break the piece up and give it a lovely natural warmth
These stunning lil beauties are for sale in our shop stall and our Etsy store … Hopefully they will find the perfect home soon!!
